Children Need Calcium and Vitamin D

Children Need Calcium and Vitamin D

Calcium is essential for the growth and development of children. It helps keep their bones and teeth strong as they grow up. It also enables their nerves and muscles to function well.

Your child may enjoy having dairy products, such as milk, yogurt, and cheese as part of their daily meal. However, if they’re lactose intolerant, you can check with your healthcare provider so they can advise you on which type of dairy is best for your child—that’s conforming to an educator at Montessori school in Jessup, Maryland.

Fortunately, many food companies already add calcium to cereal, bread, juice, and other child-friendly foods. Foods like tofu, broccoli, sesame seeds, almonds, and beans also contain calcium. Isn’t it great that children have more options in getting sufficient calcium that they need?

Of course, your child needs vitamin D to help their body absorb calcium because it’s responsible for ensuring that calcium gets where it needs to go to strengthen bones and teeth. Calcium and vitamin D help prevent diseases, especially rickets, in children.

You can always ask your healthcare provider if your child needs vitamin D supplements. Sun is always a good source of vitamin D, and it’s a good thing that children in Montessori preschool in Maryland love going out to play!
